Bishop's Stortford

St Helen's centre

Bishop's Stortford is an old market town with a population of 30,000 people. It has one of the highest standards of living in England and has gained a reputation as an attractive, trouble-free, place to live.

Facilities include an indoor swimming pool, a ten-pin bowling alley, a new six-screen cinema complex, excellent shopping and fast food restaurants.

It is ideally situated in the county of Hertfordshire, 57 kilometres north of London and 40 kilometres south of Cambridge. It is only 8 kilometres from London's Stansted Airport.

The Course Centre

Our St Helen's Centre is based on the beautiful campus of a boarding school, the Hockerill Anglo-European School. The school is located in a quiet, residential area of the city. We have based a course at the school for five years now, and can recommend it as an ideal environment for children aged 10-14 years.

It is an old, attractive, typically English boarding school with clean, modern facilities. We take over the entire school for the months of July and August.

  • Boarding school set in its own private grounds and lovely gardens
  • Large new classrooms
  • Computer suite with internet access
  • Indoor and outdoor sports facilities on campus, including tennis and basketball courts
  • A theatre and hall for discos, shows, karaoke and parties
  • Student common room
  • Student games room
  • Large dining hall serving excellent hot and cold meals
  • 15 minutes' walk from the town centre and swimming pool
  • Approximately 100-200 Studio students at the school
  • A ratio of one Studio staff member to seven students
  • An excellent mix of students from many different countries
