Conditions
Cambridge Language Consultants cannot guarantee acceptance
of edited documents by journals. Rather, we undertake
to remove the threat of rejection due to the following:
1) in the case of editing of English, deficiencies
of English grammar and style, and 2) in the case of
assessment of logic and flow of argument, deficiencies
in logical structure. This makes the acceptance of
your paper dependent solely on the academic quality
of its content. Final responsibility for documents
rests with authors.
We do edit the English of student theses that are
to be submitted for a degree, for example, an MA or
PhD. However, in this case, we require that the student
send us a copy of the university regulations concerning
thesis submission and edit strictly according to the
regulations. We do not comment on the content or logical
structure of student theses.
NB. We do not edit undergraduate essays to
be submitted as course work, or undergraduate theses.
Fees: Editing of English

Book length documents being prepared for publication,
i.e. documents over 40,000 words, will be charged at
a discount rate of 15% for the whole document.
Quality control
---GBP 1.00 per 100 words
Quality control is not applied in every case. We find that some papers are fairly well-written and in that circumstance, first editing is sufficient and we do not charge for quality control. Quality control is essential for papers for which first editing is difficult.
Our fees include substantive editing, should that be
required. We do sometimes add a surcharge for heavy
editing, but only if your document is very difficult
indeed to edit.
Fees: Assessing Logic and the Flow of Argument
We have one rate for assessing logic and the flow of
argument: £75.00 per hour. Clients should specify
what parts of a document are to be assessed at the time
of submission.
N.B. This service is not available for students
preparing a thesis or dissertation for submission
for a degree.

For payment by credit card, details of payment will
be supplied upon completion of an editing assignment.

only. We are not able to accept payment by American
express, Diners Card or any other credit card.

The amount that appears in the CLC bank account must
be the full amount that is shown on the invoice. Hence,
for payment by bank transfer, an administrative fee
of GBP12.00 will be charged to cover the cost of bank
charges in the UK.
